It was a sad week for the North County Coastal Cycling Community as staple shop B&L Bike and Sport (BLBikes.com) closed It's doors. B&L Bike and Sport in it's previous location and ownership in the early/mid 2000's was an inspiration to us as we visited the So Cal area on our bicycle adventures! The owner of RIDE Cyclery even moved out to pursue a racing career living in the Solana Beach / Del Mar area and raced for one of its race teams.
As a small business owner it is always a hard thing to watch another small business owner close up shop. Especially when that business is one of your competitors.
All of this said, we know there is now a large group of cyclist without a home shop any longer and nobody to service their bicycles. We also know that with B&L Bike and Sport being the Premier Specialized Dealer prior to RIDE Cyclery's arrival years ago there is an entire family of Specialized owners that might need servicing or warranty work for their RIDEs.

Following suit of some other retailers this year RIDE Cyclery will close both North County shops for Black Friday! We want our employees to get out and RIDE! And we want our customers to come out and RIDE with us! We know that many will be concerned about getting those Black Friday deals so we have that covered for our customers as well!
We will be hosting a RIDE from each of our two North County stores. Those that attend the events will be provided a discount code for 25% off at www.RIDEcyclery.com allowing them to take advantage of Sale pricing without having to do it on Black Friday. Those that attend in person will also be entered into a drawing for a $200 RIDE CA$H gift certificate. The Drawing will be held on Sunday the 29th.

Details of the events are as follows.
Road RIDE from our Encinitas location departing at 8am. This ride will head South to Downtown San Diego via La Jolla, Mission Beach, Point Loma. Bring some $ and plan on having a late breakfast in Little Italy. Then returning via the Rose Canyon Bike Path and through UCSD. Plan on this being 4-5 hours ride time. Those that need to turn off and head back are free to do so and will still be entered in the drawing and get their discount code.
Mountain RIDE from our Carlsbad location departing at 9am. This group will riding a combination of Calavera and other local trails. Bring lunch money as they will be stopping to grab a bite to eat at some point. Plan on this being 4-5 hours of ride time.
